Costelloe, Connemara, County Galway, Irish Republic (Eire)
Thumbnail, Item No: S21-0030
Fluorite from Ireland are very rare and extremely hard to obtain. There were no relevant discoveries in the entire country - until a first discovery at Larkins Quarry a few years ago. So this is material from a new exceptional discovery. The color is light blue with dark violet zoning along the edges. But the most fascinating part is the octahedral phantom in the middle of the crystal. This octahedron is dark violet and one face was covered with a dark green layer.
Single Crystal, 2.4 ร 1.9 ร 1.6 cm
